Size guide

No guide can replace trying on clothes. But between two sizes listed on a product page, an honest sizing guide is better than a hunch—provided it explains where its numbers come from. Here are ours: our catalog, measured line by line.

The same number doesn’t mean the same thing

This is the first thing to know, and it’s counterintuitive: a size 48 is not a size 48. In our own catalog, the number alone isn’t enough to determine the letter. Measured across the 18,912 variations we have in our database:

A size 48 is an M for one brand and an XL for another. Measured in our catalog: Antony Morato labels it M in the men’s section, while Artigli labels it XL in the women’s section. Same number, two different sizes.

This isn’t a mistake in our catalog: brands number according to their country of origin, and the same collection can mix systems. Hence the rule that follows.

The rule that almost always works: trust the label

On each product page, the size is displayed exactly as the brand specifies — we don’t rewrite it. If you know your letter size (S, M, L…), start from there. If the brand uses only a number, refer to the size chart below.

Conversion tables

These are conventional correspondences. They are accurate in most cases—though not all, as the previous section has just demonstrated. If you have any doubts about a specific part, please write to us; we will check the supplier’s data sheet.

Men — tops, jackets

In men’s ready-to-wear, two conventions coexist: chest measurement and jacket size. The number can therefore refer to either one depending on the brand.

Shoes — women and men

Adult shoe sizes, European system. Sports brands add half sizes and third-of-a-size increments—on these models, rely on the size listed on the product page.

Jeans: a special case—and the simplest. A size W28 L32 is read in inches: W = waist measurement, L = inseam length. 1 inch = 2.54 cm. Thus, a W32 corresponds to approximately 81 cm waist circumference.

In our catalog, jeans sizes range from W24 to W42 for waist size and from L28 to L34 for inseam length. Some brands write 32/34 instead of W32 L34: it means the same thing, in the order waist size / inseam length.

What we can’t tell you

We don’t publish measurements in centimeters for our clothing, because our supplier doesn’t provide them. Out of the 18,912 variations in our catalog, none includes shoulder, bust, or length measurements. We double-checked before writing this page.

This means one specific thing: we can’t tell you whether a brand runs small or large. It’s not an evasion—it’s information we simply don’t have, and making it up would only lead to returns. If you’re unsure between two sizes for an item, ask us: we’ll open the supplier’s product sheet.
